2022 Datathon

Overview

We are pleased to introduce the first annual International Meeting of the Psychometric Society (IMPS) Student Datathon! Student members are invited to form or be added to a team of 2-4 and delve into a dataset provided by Math Garden, performing analysis to compete for a cash prize of $1,000.

Registration is open and runs until June 11, 2022. You can register for the datathon here. Feel free to sign up with a group or as an individual and be matched with other eligible members. Registration is open to IMPS 2022 conference attendees and there is no cost to participate.

The Datathon will run from June 20, 2022 to July 1, 2022, with the top teams delivering a final presentation at IMPS in Italy during July 11, 2022 – July 15, 2022.

To give greater flexibility for our international collaborations, the IMPS Datathon will take place over a 10-day period to improve accessibility rather than the traditional 72-hour window.

A list of frequently asked questions is posted here.

The 2022 Datathon is organized by the Psychometric Society Graduate Student Committee. Questions can be directed to Dr. Steven A. Culpepper.

What is a Datathon?

Datathons are a type of competition where teams work together to solve a common data-oriented problem in a limited time period over a day or weekend. The final product of a Datathon is often a report alongside of analysis code that will be judged by a panel of experts. The main goal of the Psychometric Society’s Datathon is to bring together a diverse group of students and practitioners to explore an education-related data set.
