Poster Session - Poster Assignments

All the IMPS 2023 educational sessions are located in the Student Union building, however the Poster Session Event takes place off-site at The Hotel (see map below.)

Date/Time

Tuesday, July 25, 2023 at 5:30 p.m.- 7:30 p.m.

The Welcome Reception event will start 30 minutes prior to the poster session. The Poster Session is scheduled from 6:00 p.m.-7:30 p.m. Presenters have the option to start presenting as early as 5:30 p.m.; however, they are not required to be at their poster until 6:00 p.m.

Each presenter must stand with their poster from 6:00 p.m. to  7:30 p.m. If a presenter needs to step away during this time frame, please be brief.

Presenters may set up their posters prior to the actual Poster Session event, starting on Tuesday, July 25, between 2:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. All posters must be hung by 5:30p for judges to start reviewing posters prior to the authors being present from 6:00pm-7:30pm.

Presenters must remove their poster immediately following the Poster Session event on Tuesday, July 25, no later than 7:45 p.m. Any posters not removed by this timeframe will be recycled by The Hotel.

Requirements

The poster boards are HORIZONTAL (landscape style) this year. There will be one poster assigned per board. Each presenter will have their own poster number assignment.

The poster boards are 8 feet (width) x 4 feet (height). Poster Presenters may print their poster any size, as long as it is not larger than the actual board dimension to exceed the metal frame of 4’h x 8w’ or 8’w x 4’h (landscape style).

Poster tacks/pins will be provided on site to hang each poster. (Note: Some sample pictures of this year’s provided poster board are shared below.)

Tips

Posters will be read from a distance. Charts, drawings, and illustrations should be similar to those you would use in making slides. Text should be in a large typeface. Typical poster printing sizes may be determined by the presenter as long the printed poster stays under 92” (w) x 46” (h).

If this is your first poster presentation, please check out tutorials such as those found here and here.

Poster Printing

Poster printing services are available onsite for an additional fee that presenters can arrange on their own through the UPS Store located at the Student Union. Click on the UMD UPS Store link to inquire with them directly. You may also refer to the grid of other potential stores and locations that may be able to assist with poster printing.
