What is a Datathon?
Datathons are a type of competition where teams work together to solve a common data-oriented problem in a limited time period over a day or weekend. For 2025, this collaborative competition spans 10 days, during which teams will work together to address a data-related challenge. Participants will submit a final report along with their analysis code, which will be evaluated by a panel of experts. The primary goal of the IMPS 2025 Datathon is to unite students and professionals from diverse backgrounds to explore an innovative dataset and apply cutting-edge psychometric approaches.
The 2025 Datathon is brought to you by Dr Ben Domingue (Stanford University). Data is provided by Professor Jelena Obradovic, director of the SPARK Lab in the Stanford Graduate School of Education. Over the 10-day Datathon period, teams will work together to predict participants’ cognitive performance using data from the Item Response Warehouse (IRW), a publicly accessible collection of item response data sets that are formatted to a common standard.
