18 Travel Awards For IMPS 2015

We are delighted to announce that 18 Travel Awards will be available to support graduate students wishing to give a talk at IMPS 2015 in Beijing. We are very grateful to Pearson and ETS for sponsoring most of the awards! Three awards are provided by the Psychometric Society. Please consult the Travel Award page for more information.  

The application deadline is the same as the deadline for abstract submission: March 20.

IMPS Proceedings & Springer Discount!

The Proceedings of IMPS 2013 in Arnhem were published recently, and the book is available to members at a 30% discount! The book, entitled “Quantitative Psychology Research” and edited by Millsap, Bolt, Van der Ark, and Wang, contains 29 chapters covering a wide range of advanced issues in item response theory, factor analysis, evaluation of reliability, model selection, parameter estimation, mediation analysis, and more. The Proceedings of IMPS 2014 will be published later this year.

New Psychometric Society Website

The new website was launched today by John Hofmann and the Website task force (Francis Tuerlinckx, Ed Merkle, and Sophia Rabe-Hesketh), with input from many of you. We hope you like it and appreciate any feedback.

An exciting new feature is that the webpage adapts to the width of your screen and can easily be used on any device (computer, phone, tablet). We have also added new content and pictures.  Check out the About Us, Awards, and Governance pages.

Members can now browse the membership directory to find out more about each other and have their pictures displayed on the homepage. See the Members Only Section.

New Editor of Psychometrika

Irini Moustaki

We are delighted to announce that Irini Moustaki will be the new Executive Editor of Psychometrika, with effect from November 1, 2014. She is a Professor in Social Statistics in the Department of Statistics at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), where she was awarded her PhD in 1996. Her main research interests are latent variable models, analysis of categorical data, methods of estimation, goodness-of-fit, detection of outliers and missing values.  She has co-authored books on latent variable models and multivariate data analysis and served as an associate editor and editorial member for a number of journals including Computational Statistics and Data Analysis and the Journal of Educational and Behavioural Statistics. She received an honorary doctorate from the University of Uppsala in January 2014.

We are very grateful to Brian Junker for serving as Interim Executive Editor following the death of the previous Executive Editor, Roger Millsap.
